What are you doing for weed control?

It's that time of year again, got the sprayer out to begin attacking the weeds. I need to spray several acres of pasture fenceline, it's a mixture of grass and thorns. I want a total annihilation of foliage in the sprayed area. What are y'all using?

Round-Up or generic equivalent, or other total vegetation killer.
I have more ideas than ambition.

Excuse my ignorance, but what it 2-4-D?

The driveway to my barn always turns from limestone to grass (okay - mostly weeds), and I am looking for something that will keep that from happening.

Exactly what I use. 2-4-D is a broadleaf ONLY killer and can be used alone on your lawn to kill weeds. When mixed with roundup it will aid in killing the stronger broadleafs faster.

If you mix your roundup, make sure to add water to the roundup prior to adding the 2-4-D to it. Also a mixture like this will not store very well according to the place we buy our chamicals at. Our corn fields get this treatment as some plants are not dying from roundup only.

    Brian,

One thing I forgot that in addition to the chemicals I mentioned, I add 8 to 10 ounces of Dawn dishwashing detergent. Our extension agent told me that the Dawn would help the "poison" stick to the vegetation better.

I also use somthing that is sort of the same, but it is meant for that. Its blue and I forget the name. It stops foaming and makes the chemical stick. Do you have issues with foaming? I will try to get a picture of this stuff as it is cheap, maybe cheaper than dawn dish soap.

Yeah, have to be real careful and add the dawn when most of the water is in the tank or the foam will be a real problem. I'd like to know what the cheap blue stuff is when you have the time.
