Its been 105 days since I've mowed!

Here where I live the drought has been terrible. I'm very aware that our area is NOT alone on this!!! Our yard/lawn is Turf Fescue. I will be posting some pic's on what I "hope" to accomplish in reestablishing our once beautiful yard/lawn. My 1026R is placed squarely in this plan! My first job will be to de-thatch and bag all the dead grass. 1026R, front mounted de-thatcher, JD MCS hyd dump on the rear. I need lots of advice/information that you ALL can and will add! Thank YOU

Nice looking tractor! I like your front hub covers.

Where do you live? (hint, hint. update your profile. )

You don't think you're lawn will come back after some rain?

It's been since the first of June here since I mowed. But with the remnants of Isaac, it rain for almost 3 days (at least 2 and half days). And it was the steady, slow rain that will benefit the ground. We could use some more though.

Yes, I think/hoping that 85% or better of my lawn will come back! I did update my profile, NE Missouri. Friday last @ 0700 until Saturday 0700, we received 6.10 of precip, around 0930 that Saturday morning, I drove across a creek north of town and after 6.10 of rain, the running water in the creek bed did NOT cover all of the creek bed! That amount of water in 24 hrs and no run-off! I'm hoping to "show-off" my de-thatcher, MCS, with some pic's, today. Later on, (more pic's) use my JD 5B sprayer to apply 18-2-7 liquid fertilizer to this lawn. Wait a few days to see what is left! Thank YOU

Oh, please jump in at anytime with your thoughts/questions!

NE Missouri. Howdy neighbor. I'm also in Missouri, about 60 miles south of the St. Louis area. Until Isaac came through this weekend, we hadn't any significant rain in months. Crops in this area were virtually destroyed due to the drought, and this rain came too late for most of the farmers here. Hopefully it will help the fall bean crops. And soften up the fields for our October plow days in Marthasville and Labadie area plow events.

I spent the last 3 to 4 hours, de-thatching, bagging most of the dead grass in my yard. Going to post 2 or 3 pic's one of the pic's will show my pickup loaded with dead grass. I hauled that load and another not quite as full. That is about what I take off the lawn when I mow with normal precip. What surprised me the most was the huge amount of "seed" in the dead grass. Oh, the last pic that I loaded is of the JD 5A restored sprayer that I will use to apply the liquid fertilizer.

We only got .95" out of this rain, but that & the 1" we got about a week ago are starting to green things up some already! I'm sure I'll need to overseed some, but unless we get quite a bit more rain soon, I'll wait until Spring.

I mowed the whole yard for the first time in months Friday, just to "clean it up" a little.

BTW, we go through Edina anymore when we go to Rutledge, seems like 6 is a better road than 11! ~~ Lowell
