    4400 rear diff housing cracked.

My rear diff housing where the 3 point lifting arm attaches broke off. I’ve read other post of people welding it. I haven’t seen anyone discuss using this https://www.compactractorparts.com/t...xle-repair-kit. It looks like it might be better than factory. Anyone had any experience with it?

No expierence with this but that certainly looks like a solid plan. Even better is no boiling oil and soot inside the axle from welding it.

That repair kit looks 100% stronger than the original metal ear, that’s for sure what I’d do.

Can you imagine this is such a common problem that they sell a specific kit to fix it? Shameful for a company like JD with a reputation to live up to.

    Good luck!

Just to let everyone know. This is a great fix. The side plates on the piece are 3/4". The only bolt that didn't wanna line up was the one that goes in the bottom. Just had to ream it out some. Also that piece didn't fit tight against the bottom. I used washers for spacers. I still consider it a no brainer if you have this problem. Took less than an hour and I was back using the 3 point. Could've been done in 20min if I hadn't had to ream the bolt hole out and find washers that would work for the spacers.
