    FV590V engine question

My 345 is still cutting out when it is hot. It only cuts out when it is hot (80 or higher outside) after about 30 to 40 minutes of mowing. If it is cool it will keep running. If it does cut out, I allow it to cool off and it fires right up. It runs great while it is running, no miss, runs strong, and then it is like someone shut the key off. I have replaced all the fuel lines from the tank forward, the fuel filter, the fuel pump, and still quitting. I have been told it sounds like the time delay module, but I have also been told the FV590V Kawasaki does not have one. Can someone tell me definitively if it does or does not have the module? Really can't afford to pay 500 or more for something I can do. Any ideas? HELP

I not the best at these things but here is what I would try.

When it dies what do you get when you try to restart it? In other words dose it crank or not? What is the serial number range, it looks like there is a break at 070000? I might try to use caned air on the control module under the dash to try to cool it down after it dies.

You may want to get the tech manual as well.

When it dies, it cranks just like normal and sometimes will fire for a second and sometimes not. If it is allowed to cool, it fires rught up like nothing ever happened. Mine is a pre-70000 serial number.

Could be the coil going bad too. When heated up they show their issue, after cooling they'll work again. Typical failure for an ignition coil.

I was wondering that as well but I did not find a coil listed in JD parts. So I thought it might have been all one module.

This model has 2 coils, one for each cylinder. When it shuts down, it is like the key was turned off. No loose connections, nothing appears broken or loose. It is not running on one cylinder, so both would have to go bad at exactly the same time. Don't think that is the problem. Like I said, I keep hearing about the time delay module, so my basic question is does this model have a time delay module or not? That is a much cheaper part to replace.

deere calls this an ignition module. dont know if it is a time delay or not. at least you will have a parts number so you can price it. John Deere - Parts Catalog
