    X580 Battery Question

Guys, I have a 2017 X580 with a battery with the part number AM146025. I was trying to figure out the amperage and Ah of the battery. It’s not on the battery itself, and I’m having no luck looking it up. It does say it’s a JD battery with 500 cca and RC 85 min. Not sure what the second one means. Anybody happen to know?

The part number listed above is not valid. According to JD Parts your battery should be TY25876. Normally adding an "A" to the part number gets you the wet charged version but that is not working on this battery.

My battery maintainer has two settings. One for up to 3.5 amps and a small battery setting for up to .9 amps. Where would this battery fall? Thank you for the help.

If just running it as a maintainer I would set it on the lowest setting. If you find that the battery never gets up to the float state you could then try the higher setting for a day or so.

I use a Battery Tender Jr. on both my X500 and 2720. The Jr. is only rated for 0.75A and it works just fine at maintaining both of these batteries.

It's not unusual to find invalid part number labels on components. I think JD does this to increase the confusion factor. Sometimes part numbers are for manufacturing purposes and not "spares". Batteries are the most confusing of all because in a lot of cases the part number in the parts book is not valid. And then there is the whole "dry charged" vs. "wet charged". JD only lists dry-charged part numbers in the parts book but then when you get to the dealer you typically find they only carry the wet-charged version.

Batteries is one of the few items that I actually trust the dealer to give me the correct item by me simply stating "I need a battery for a _______ tractor". :-)

RC85 stands for reserve capacity 85 min. . As someone else said , use a Battery Tender and you don't need to worry about overcharging .

Not unusual to see unlisted part numbers on factory installed batteries. Pretty much the norm. JDparts will list the replacement battery part#. And yur correct..add a A to the part number and that will be a filled and ready to go battery.

Apparently not in this case. TY25876A is not a valid part number.
