345 fuel spraying on exhaust... help

I have a problem with my 98 JD 345. It started leaking fuel several weeks ago so I ordered a carb rebuild kit. Took off the hood and the metal guard to get to the carb and when I start it up it was spraying fuel out with pressure right on the exhaust. Thing is it wasn't spraying from the carb but some other thing that the fuel goes to first before going to the carb. What is this thing? Has anyone ever had this kind of issue before? I don't know where to even start.

That would be the fuel pump Tommy. When it craps out fuel spews out the lil hole right above yur muffler. Get a new fuel pump and while yur at it, replace all the hoses from front to back.

Thank you! So I need a fuel pump tommy, a fuel pump and all the hoses to be on the safe side? Will probably go ahead and get new radiator hoses too since I got a service kit and I will just do everything.

Fuel pump and fuel lines yes.

Your lucky, many that fail burn to the ground. I believe it's like the cam gears, your replacement Will have a metal body, that won't leak again.

    345 Fuel pump

Went thru that a couple years ago with my 345. They sell a new fuel pump with a bypass hose to direct any leakage past the muffler. Seems to me it was an outrageous price like 145 bucks thru the JD dealer. I remember having a terrible time getting the old gasket cleaned off. other than that it was an easy job.

Looks like it is part # AM132715 for the entire fuel pump assembly, $135. Also gasket part # M113687, $1. Couldn't find fuel lines.

Fuel lines should be found at local auto parts store.
