John deer 240 lawn mower runs and when shut off won't start back up

I have a john deer 240 model lawn mower and it will run until you shut it off then it won't start back up. I replaced the plug, cleaned the carb and air filter as well as the fuel filter and can't think of anything else. Need to fix it asap
