    Another John Deere GT225

I've been looking for a 42c deck for my john Deere GT 225 for several years now and I finally found one just a couple miles from home. Had to buy another GT 225 in order to get it though. The PO said he heard strange noises coming from the Hydro and decided to sell. Driving it this evening I didn't hear anything, but the oil wasn't warmed up good. Engine seems to run pretty good and doesn't have blow by like my other GT 225 has. The deck has a bracket broken off of it so it will ne some attention. I'll get it off the trailer tomorrow and start checking things over to see just what I've got.

Unloaded the GT225 and pulled the deck to check it over. Found some rust thru so I guess I will be making some patches to weld in. Took the tractor for a test drive and the hydro still seems fine.

Amazing how corrosive grass is to metal.I'm always cleaning mine and rust still eats away at them.

Pressure washed the GT225 to get the crud off. I think with a little buffing it should shine up pretty good. Hydro still seems good with no issues. The onlyproblem I have seen is the charge indicator light comes on intermittently and will go out by wiggling the key. I have the same problem with my LX255. I think its just a bad key switch.

Tried a little buffing on the hood and it shined right up. The seat pan is off color like its been painted. I buffed a scratched area just above the rear wheel and found there is brighter green under this darker paint. May have to pull the fender deck and repaint it.

Ordered a new reservoir tank for the Hydro. The original is cracked and on the edge of failure.

Started the teardown on the deck to see if it can be saved. I'm going to run it thru my E-tank first and follow that with a light sandblasting.

Ran the deck through my electrolysis tank and then did some sandblasting. I think I can use my old trashed deck for some patch pieces.
