Was given a Older JD Mower Deck not sure how old?

May need a idler pulley and 2 new belts for sure. Anyone know the age of it? The distance on the 2-Blades is 39 1/2" or 19 1/2" per blade with 3/4" or so gap between them. It was given to me and I was able to make it fit under my Craftsman Mower painted to look like a JD Mower I fixed up. The reason I liked it was those Spindles sure don't make them like that anymore I have seen! If I could figure the Model and maybe year I could get parts for it? Here is some pictures of it. I looked for a date code on the plastic label but no luck? Any help would be helpful. Thanks, Mark

    It’s a 38 2 blade deck. They mow nice.

    86-atleast 05, possibly current.

I believe that fits 165/175/180/185 type tractors as configured.

Thanks it only needs the Idler Pulley to fix it and the belt to hook it to the Lawn Tractor. I have the 2 wheels missing off another old deck. Making new mounts for the wheels to bolt to out of 1 1/4" x 3/8" Bar Stock drilled to fit like the other one. I can get the pulley and fan belt in town on the belt after I size it. Spindles are smooth turning not sure yet how to take them apart. So I am going to clean this baby up and give it a new coat of yellow paint. It looks good under the Lawn Tractor and even better when it is painted fresh. These old ones are so easy to work on!

Negative. All of the 38" 160-185 lawn tractors I have seen and sold including the one I currently own utilize a plastic shoot the left side pulley cover is also shaped wrong for those models. John Deere used a steel shoot on the 210, 212, 214, 216 and others. Might do a google image search for one of those and see if that doesn't look more like it.

If the spindles turn smoothly I'm not sure why you would want to take them apart but if you do an air chisel will certainly make life a lot easier for you. There is a write up on one of the forums regarding changing out the deck bearings in those spindles.

I was reading that thread and I decided since they did turn nice I would leave them alone for now and see how it goes. I will look up those other mowers. I did notice the plastic Shute on the others and will look at the other ones. Seems to be way better built then the Craftsman's junk I have off a newer on

I think there is an early late split.

I can tell you the mounting hardware, and front brackets are not correct for 200 or 300 series like the 214 or 318

I think it might be a JD111 Mower Deck I saw some that look just like it. Here is a picture of one.[ATTACH=CONFIG]638476[/ATTACH Going to look at it again for labels covered with paint that may have a number on it.

Interesting, I stand corrected (unless it was swapped onto it).

I was selling those for John Deere when they were new. Sold a bunch of 170's, 175's, 180's and 185's. We couldn't give away the 160's and 165's. We never even ordered in a 130. Not a one of them had a metal shoot.

Deck #2 is definitely what I'm used to seeing on the 160-185's and even the 240 used that deck when ordered with a 38" deck.

Got the Mower Deck Mounted Yesterday

Worked out good yesterday I got the John Deere Mower Deck hung under the re/painted Craftsman Lawn tractor. Heck looks like it was meant to on be there. Picking up a Fan Belt today now that I know what size I need to test out the mowing part later on. Had to make hangers, and linkage to work the belts but that was about it except cleaning and painting it.Click image for larger version.
