    X580 w/ 44-inch Snowblower- Pushing Snow

    Looking for some help....

I have a 2016 X580 (55 hours) with a 2012 44-inch Snowblower on it. This is my first season with this combo.

At times the blower is pushing more snow than blowing it.....then when it starts to pile up it bears down and blows it real strong. I was wondering if this is normal? The reason I ask is that my grandfather had a GX335 (2005 model) with a 38 inch blower on it and it did not have this problem. Snow never piled up at the end of the driveway or after each pass. It seems to me that the front horizontal auger on my 44-inch blower cannot keep up feeding the 2nd stage blower in the housing.

    A couple of points.

    1. Both gear boxes are full of oil.
    2. Auger belt under the machine is super tight, no slippage
    3. Shear pins are not broken.
    4. Not a lot of play in the front augers when turning them by hand.

I am just looking for some feedback on how your machines perform. Throws the snow fine, machine does not bog down, just wondering about the piling of the snow. Love using this combo.....better than the walk behind ariens.

    Thanks for your help/thoughts.

This is common if the snow is wet and the asphalt is not frozen. You get a layer of slush that lets the snow slide in front of the blower instead of going into the augers.

That wet snow we've been here in the Buffalo area has been wet and heavy. It doesn't like to feed into the blower nice. You'll see the difference when the temps drop and the snow is lighter.
