    2002 L120, 20 horse 48”cut Bagger System

I am trying to help a neighbor out with a lawn mower needing a bagger system. Due to budget constraints we are looking for a used bagger for the Deere she has and loves. I have found a used bagger for a 42" that will fit but the part numbers vary by deck size.

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with these and knows if the systems are all the same with the only change being the collector section of the chute. If that is the case I may have found a nice used unit and would only need the bottom part of the chute.

I solicited advice from GFP but they aren't responding since 9:00am which is out of character so I thought I'd go the masses for opinions.

I believe this is the model number for the whole system. They may have newer part numbers too but this one seemed to line up with her model year.

Pretty much the hopper parts are all the same. The mount brackets vary with the tractor.Chute differ and if over 48" power flows differ. Can you narrow down what she has or pics.

Yep. The baggers for the L100/D100/E100 series are all the same with the exception of the boot that connects to the deck itself. Each size deck (i.e. 42", 48", 54") has a unique boot.

If you can find a boot for a 42" deck it will work fine with the rest of the bagging system for a 48" or 54" deck.

42 deck is just a 2piece chute and hopper. However the 48 deck uses a power flow attachment.

I have a D160 with a 48" deck and it has the 2 piece chute with no power flow.

Oddlly enough, even though you get a 48" deck on the D160, JDParts doesn't show a Power Flow available for it. But if you go to the D170 in JDParts, it has a Power Flow setup for both the 48" and 54" decks.

    I stand corrected. Thanks Jim.

I also have a JD bagger for my 2004 L130 48” deck, the chute is 2 piece and no Power Flow.

To the OP, make sure your neighbor runs the high lift version of the blades for that deck-and watch for the chute clogging. The right blades make all the difference, and changing the bags early and often is the best defense for clogging things up and having to take it all apart to clean out.

Perfect guys thanks for clarification. I also appreciate the blade and user advice. My 74 year old lady neighbor is a diligent as they come and will heed your advice.

Now I need to find the boot. Day 2 and no response to my inquiry from gfp in chat or email, hmmmm? Oddly when I inquires about pricey BM items for my tractor I heard straight away.

Does anyone know if that is a single part I can buy alone? Advice on finding the part number.

    All, you guys are great!

I see two part numbers for a 48” deck but neither list the L120 as a compatible model.

    AM138036 and AM143912

I’m also shocked to see it’s a $100+ part and the whole system is only $350 or so new. Must be doing something wrong.

Not sure what you are looking at but there are 2 different lower pieces to the chute.

For a L120 that is serial number 063526 or lower, the correct part number is GY20162.

If the serial number is 063527 or higher, then the correct part number is AM143912. (AM143912 is a substitute that replaces AM138036).
