X730 JD with 47” 2 stage broke main PTO shaft

Hi there- I am looking to see if anyone has ever snapped the main PTO shaft in half just after the knuckle on a X700 series blowing snow. Didn’t sheer the pin. Shaft broke in two

I have to wonder if it was cut to the wrong length, maybe too much cut off. How much of the shaft is still in the other half?

I have seen them bend there, using a broom hard while angled. Not on a snowblower.

Do you have the angle kit on your quick hitch and forgot to put the lock pin in to hold it straight.

I did have this happen last winter. I can't remember the exact piece that was supposed to be pinned up was hanging down and it was rubbing on the PTO shaft until it finally broke you could see a pretty good wear spot all the way around the shaft.
