John Deere 125 OEM vs Aftermarket

Just curious, is there a major quality difference in aftermarket sector+pinion gear vs OEM?

My brother recently replaced the sector gear on his LA105 with an aftermarket part and there was no difference at all between it and the original part - other than the price.
