JD 285 Mower Deck Lift Stuck

    Hi guys,

I have a 285 and the mower deck lift is stuck in the up position. The lever seems to still be functioning, but the push button release on the end of the lever, doesn't allow in to go back down suddenly... Not sure why...

    Thanks for your help!

I'm not familiar with the 285, but perhaps (??) the button is just a lock for the handle? Pull lever back to raise deck, push button, and move lever to lower deck. Bob

That is the way it is suppose to work, and it has up until today. When you pull back on the lever with it in the up position, it does go up slightly higher, the button depresses, but then the lever and the deck won't drop down to the low position.

    It has me baffled..

Has anyone else been on it and turned the knob that controls the deck height?

No. The only thing I did was install my snowblower on the front, which has been on it many times before.

Maybe the crank to assist lifting the deck is cranked too tight? That's all I've got
