End of the year deck cleaning?

Well, the farm tractor (4110) has been negelcted this year and the lawn was cut when whomever had time, wet or dry. I have it scraped the deck down but there is still a thin layer of grass everywhere under it. Its not easy to scrape and it seems to do more harm than good by scratching the metal. I plan to paint the bottom once I get it clean. Any suggestions? I was thinking hot water and simple green?

I usually scrape mine as clean as possible and then give the entire underside a good spraying with Rust Check. Been doing this for years with good results for me.

Interesting. I see that they have that Rust Check stuff at KMart here in the states. They seem to have a number of products. Can you post a link to the specific product that you recommend?

When I took delivery of the 1026R last week the dealer threw in 2 spray cans of the JD graphite coating. I am going to put it on the 7Iron come spring. My salesman really likes this product and uses it on the deck of his personal X740.

    End of season cleaning.

As far as cleaning my decks, I pick them up with a chain and the loader and then pressure wash them completely clean. Works for me. I have given up on the coatings as you have to apply them continually through the mowing season. Even paint will not last a season. The last thing I have tried is the mulch kit was painted last year with POR15 paint. I will see how it stood up tomorrow. The problem is the underside of the deck takes such a blasting by the dirt. I is actually sandblasting the underside.
