    Plastic camshaft

What model years of the 445 had the plastic camshaft and what year did they charge to steel?
    Thanks

    Look for the engine code.

FD620D Model Reference (sticker below front accessory shaft, although many are missing)
Engines marked FD620D-AS01, BS01 have a plastic cam gear
Engines marked FD620D-CS01, DS01 have a steel cam gear

Tractor serial number for the steel cam gear starts at 60001, which is 1998.

Thanks so much. I am going to look at a 1998 445 and wasn't sure which gear it has.

I got the ID# MOO445C071380. Not sure how many they made.
I'm guessing this would be the plastic gear?

From the info I have, that serial number makes it a 1998, which should have the steel cam gear. Check to be sure the engine code is FD620D-CS01 or DS01.
