Operating the X749 with the new rakes.

Today I had the chance to put in a full 8 hours on the new mower. Spent most of the day raking up pine needles with the 6' rake made by Leinbach for this purpose. I was impressed by how good a job this thing does, leaves the ground similar to handraking in one pass.

The mower handled the task well and feels much more stable riding along a ditch than any of the others I have used, this thing is low and wide. Yet high enough that the mower deck never dragged on anything. I had a few spots I also mowed down and now with that done I can remove the deck and leave it at home to finish the raking jobs. This works out to be about 4 to 5 times as fast as handraking and easy to do all day long.

I also purchased a new 60" Frontier landscape rake and after all the needles are up I will use it to do some smoothing on one of the customers lawns. I removed about 75 old stumps a few weeks ago and need to dress up some spots.

Figured out one thing for sure, I will need a larger dump trailer, my small trash trailer is 5'X12' and with the mower and landscape rake angled to fit I had about half an inch of clearance to close the gate. Any larger implements won't fit.

Will add some pics Thursday as I left the camera at home today.

How many pine trees are you picking up the needles around?

Alright here are some pics of the X749 with the 3pt hitch and pto kit. The Leinbach Pine Straw Rake came from Everything Attachments and good to deal with.

Ah, now I understand, long needles and not the short ones. That works great for that application. I would think it would do leaves well also. See now that wasn't so hard now was it Steve.
