    Some advice please

I have some 5/16th weld on hooks and would like to weld 3 on my 1025 bucket. Would a 1/4" thick piece of steel 4"s wide and 52"s long be enough reinforcement for the bucket?

I really would like to have that middle hook.

If that is not enough reinforcement, you should not doing this anyway.

Yes, it will help some, but the 1/4" piece really has no great strength laying flat and will still flex. If you really want strong, tack a piece of angle or channel underneath across the whole length, or a 2" pipe just behind the front lip like this:

That looks good kenny, thanks for the response. I have some pieces in my scrap pile that will work perfectly.

I've been using this angle iron type of setup for nearly 30 years. Haven't bent it yet.
