    Some new teeth

Ive never really liked the tooth setup, spacing or arrangement of the teeth on my 9 and 13 backhoe buckets for my BH46.

The 9 only had one on the outsides, angled out with an ~8 gap between the tips, the 13 had the same teeth in the corners angled out but with one in the center, but still had gaps of about ~7.

This means that these buckets do dig but dont clean out the bottom of a hole or trench very well at all and its inefficient to try to use the bucket to move the dirt back into the hole as the tooth spacing leaves too much dirt behind, and if I want to scrape up an area to loosen it I have to overlap my passes....

Enter Romac Industrial Parts where I found near exact replacement weld on shanks and teeth to match these buckets.
Item # 835-2A, WELD ON ADAPTER On Romac Industrial Parts

Item # 2A, FABRICATED TOOTH On Romac Industrial Parts

I cut off the tooth/shank from the middle of the 13 bucket and welded it in the middle of the 9, giving a max spacing of just over 3. I welded two new teeth on the 13 between the two outside ones giving me a 3.5 spacing. Cant wait to use my new improved teeth!!!!!

Back in 2010 after it drove me crazy I added two, for the same reason.

I thought I remembered seeing your post and picture previously, and considered going with 5, but the new shanks were a bit different than the old ones and changed the angle and height of the teeth so I ended up using the one from the 13” on the 9” bucket as it matched better and then modifying the two new ones on the 13” with my grinder before I welded them on. I also considered that with heavy digging, too many teeth on the larger bucket may impede function so I settled on 4.

Giz-are the teeth on yours original? Strange that they’re different than mine from the look of the rear of the tooth?

Yes original, I just ordered two more from the dealer.
For the record I was going to move the center tooth and only add one more but I got lazy.
To this day I still have concerns about too many teeth impeding functionality but I have no real proof or experience that it does or that I have seen. However, it does stand to reason it would.

BTW, you did a nice job. (forgot to mention that in my first post)

Thanks for the compliments, my Miller 211 MVP really does a nice job.

Strange how those teeth are original, you added to them in 2010 and I (assume) the new ones will match but they look completely different than the teeth on my buckets and from the teeth I ordered.

Mine were designated as a 2A-F type tooth, from Romac I paid $5.62 each for them-theyre an exact match down to the stamps on them to my originals, might I ask what they ran from your dealer or if you have the P/N handy?

I didn't order two more, I just order two in 2010. My Bad.

Part Number for the Tooth Cap, T2A.
Part Number for the Tooth Cap and Shank, PT10430 (I'm not sure if this is still available).
    I paid $24.00 for PT10430 back in 2010.

Thanks Giz, yeah that P/N is still in the system. GFP lists it for $37.99-Id hope for that price it would be the tooth and shank, but there isnt a picture so cant tell for sure.

Yeah, I ran into that myself this morning.
Give your dealer a call. Let us know.

I have an extra shank and two teeth from Romac, should be all I ever need. That and I paid $13.51 for the shank/tooth combo.

If anyone needs or wants one from the dealer the P/N is posted as a resource for them along with my links, they can choose the route they want to go. GFP states that that P/N is the tooth and shank.
