    2017 2032R & 2038R AutoConnect Belly Weight

Started on the weight for the 2038R last night and got a fair amount done today. Much of it is tacked together only so I can figure out how high to mount it on the brackets. Finished the front arms and links today though. The arms are about $250 and the threaded links $140.00 from Deere and let me tell you they are worth every penny. I guess I knew that going in but I wanted to give the arms a try. There is a lot of fabricating in them. Don't expect a quick finish because of that dang day job but I hope to have it done by fall, well late fall anyway.

So many pieces and dimensions. Don't really need a blueprint for it but it sure helps to know where your starting from when you need to change it. Great thing about computers. Take a photo, put it in a file and 20 years from now it should be there if the programs we use then will still open it.

Interesting. What's the weight for?? I'll be watching. I like how you used a hammer to hold the front piece up.

    No problem Jim.

Itís for ground engaging work. I am looking for a way to add weight without handling weights. I have the R1ís and might fill them but they are much easier to change on or off with out weights or fluid. The deck makes a big difference for traction but I donít want to beat that up using it for ballast. The auto connect really is handy and I thought this was a good way to quickly add weight. It will also serve a skid plate underneath to protect the pto and auto connect parts.

But won't it also significantly lower the ground clearance of the machine? It seems like it would be similar to leaving the deck on while doing loader work on rough ground and having it always bottoming out and causing traction problems. The belly weight will be just like the deck, if it contacts the ground it can get you stuck.

Good point but weíre called flat landers for a reason. The bottom should sit about 4Ē higher than the bottom of the deck and still higher than the rear end which is way to low on these imo. This is for field or driveway work so no real obstacles. For anything rougher I just bring home a farm tractor.

Actually thatís of the things I like about this site. Lots of people who look at things, understand how they work and notice issues that might come up so it can be adjusted in real time if needed.

Agree with you there is a lot of help on here and a lot of opinions. I found this site while I was having trouble with my 1020 and found the knowledge to straighten the problem out. and I have been hooked since then.

Some days I am shocked at how little I get done. Had a couple of mods and then did a test fit. Once I had it adjusted I added the square tubing to the side. Since I cannot do things simple had some angles to cut and measure. Squaring it was an exercise as well. Now need to set the height n the lift brackets. It has 10.5” of ground clearance currently, depending on height to crawl over it I may lower it a little. I need to find a better way to keep the front up for connecting, the spring off the bottom works better for a deck but I would prefer it not hanging down on this. It is about 5-6” but think I can spring it from the top.

Forward progress has been made. Have to finish up the rear ramp ledges, add a little weight to the rear and put the plate steel top and bottom and a couple up stops. I will add the bottom plate, paint it inside and out and then finish it up. Sorry forgot a mounted photo.

    Bottom side is done.

My grandfather told me if you pick up a calf every day from the time it is born you should be able to pick it up when it is a cow. I am starting to think he fibbed.
