When I bought my 4010 last week I noticed the chain stabilizers were both broke. I figured $10-15 and I would be good. JD sure is proud of those little buggers. I can't find any cheaper than the ones in the link. I think I can build a Coupe using some grade 8 left handed nuts, bolts, 3/4" iron pipe and chain.
Here's my plan. Take the eyes off the swing arm and welding 1/2 a link to the lh bolt head. This will work just like the OEM part. Then weld a lh and rh nut on each end of a 4" section of iron pipe, the weld another chain link to the rh bolt on the tractor side. For leverage I'll weld another chain link to the pipe to make it easier to turn.
Think it will work?
