    I miss this place..been busy.

    Harvest is upon us...

Been spraying all dadgum night when the conditions are right.

Sometimes, all dadgum day when it's the only chance.

Hauling buckets out of the fields.

Mowing before it's too late to get a tractor down rows.

Worrying about invasive critters and hail getting at heavy crop before harvest is completed.

Keeping the kids busy in the packing shed.

Currently switching over to Mechanical harvest and getting our old "Greta" the ancient BEI harvester, tuned up for a three week grind.
Anybody got a line on a source of Waukesha parts?

I missed the mirth here and decided to check in...before going back out to spray until sun up. LOL!!

Zebra, if you were planning on picking a few, holler at me before I hit them with Greta.;)

Great shots, good luck with harvest, we did 3 small blueberry bushes in the garden this year, and got about 3 pints....was a lot of fun. How many acres or bushes do you harvest?

Juice, jelly, frozen, and of course fresh is all in my thoughts with those pics!

Were all of those hand picked? If so, how many employees?

    Kenny,
Glad ya like the LaRue SWAG.

    Farmgirl,

You never had a Frozen Blueberry Margarita?
    You have been cheated.

Gizmo has it right...this business of breaks is serious stuff.
    Gotta stay hydrated and updated.

    Zebra,

That was one of half a dozen runs daily, out of the field.
My cooler is small, so I stick to smaller orders and get them outta here within 1-2 days of coming off the bush.
Generally, the core crew averages 170lbs each per 5 hour day if it's not blazing hot and the picking is good. We do have three heavy hitters that are good for 200-230lbs a day.

Things went south early this year, thanks to anthracnose and the winter damage, causing problems with ripening and quality on the mid season fruit, so I cut off Hand picked orders early.

The bushes are heavy, but half of the fruit is still green thanks to all this cool weather.
Been irrigating like crazy, and hoping for a couple warm days and nights so we aren't still machine harvesting in September...that would suck.

    fd,

We are kinda small, just a little over 30,000 bushes. Enough to pay the bills and keep a guy busy, but not enough to afford a new Ferrari.

Thanks for the kind words all.

Now back to the grind. Gotta go fetch the tractor in the north field and haul it back down here, and then repair and adjust a conveyor on Greta.
    No rest for the wretched.;)
