    The three rings

I was trying to get some lumber quotes for a new pole barn construction. The young man behind the counter appeared to really be distracted & as I've done business with him before he was usually not in this state of confusion over my materials lists & estimates in the past. When I finally had to ask him if anything was bothering him. He said "no, not really except for the fact that I'm getting married this weekend & Im really starting to feel the pressure of it all".

I took the youg man aside & told him not to worry that I have been married now for 34 years, & you are just starting on the journey known as the "Three Rings of Marriage". He said he never herd of the three rings of marriage before. So I took him aside & explained them to him. Young man, first comes the Engagement Ring where you make a commitment. Next comes the Wedding Ring, where saying "I Do" becomes a life time commitment to forever honoer & obey blindly in the sake of matrimonial peace. And last but not least is "The Suffering". And it is this last ring that over time will reduce you down to a shell of the man you are today.

He's been married 34 years. I am sure his "wood" has done a little aging.

No not aged. Want to say more like petrified. But that would indicate a specific condition which I have...Not.
