How's the weather at your place? - March 2018

Welcome to the March 2018 weather thread!

The full moon in March is on the 1st - and a blue moon on the 31st.

March’s Full Moon was traditionally called the Full Worm Moon by Native Americans who used lunar phases to track the seasons. Colonial Americans also used these names, especially those of the local Algonquin tribes who lived between New England and Lake Superior.

At the time of this Moon, the ground begins to soften enough for earthworm casts to reappear, inviting the return of robins and migrating birds—a true sign of spring.

Roots start to push their way up through the soil, and the Earth experiences a re-birth as it awakens from its winter slumber.

In some regions, March’s full Moon is instead known as the Sap Moon, as it marks the time when maple sap begins to flow and the annual tapping of maple trees begins. When a second full Moon occurs in March, it is called the Full Sap Moon. The second full Moon in a single month is more generally called a Blue Moon.

Low of 43* this morning - calling for a high of 50*. Rain coming in around noon. Then some snow for tomorrow - all the watches and warnings are to my north - barely - close enough that we might get some here.

March, man times a flying. After the 19th of this month I can say I have less than a year to retire.
Mess today. 35 when I got up. Rain started 30 minutes ago, temps are supposed to drop this afternoon. Weather advisory until tomorrow morning with 3-6” of wet heavy snow. Then warming again so won’t stay around long.

Pretty sure TWC started that a few years ago, means absolutely nothing to me except more snow to push

    Ahh - media hype.

I look at Weather Underground, NOAA, and Accuweather and have never seen any names for storms - only hurricanes.

WOW 14 inches of snow and more falling as I type!

Well I got my wish sorta if I was looking for more snow. It dropped 14 inches over night and still falling fast with 25 MPH Gusts??? It is a total mess out and I will have to switch buckets back to my Snow Pusher to move this much today. It is supposed to snow till Sunday I hope this is the end before spring comes. Pictures later and sure glad I put my wrap around PVC Wind/Snow Break back on the tractor yesterday just in case I needed it.Click image for larger version.
