Any licensed used auto dealers here?

My last day at work (layoff) is Monday Apr 2nd. I am considering getting my dealers license and have a question or two which likely need to be covered in PM. Curious if anyone here is actively licensed and selling cars and would be willing to offer some trade secrets.

Sorry to read about your job lay off. I had the same thing happen to me after being employed at a JD dealership for over 21 yrs. As it turned out it was one of the best things that could have happened to me as I've been in a succesful custom farming/hay baling business for 31 YEARS.

Seems like Spring time is an odd time for a lay off. In most cases that's when companies start hiring. I would say it's a good time to get an auto dealer's license with tax returns coming up and people having extra cash to spend. Good luck with your new endeavor.

    Sorry about your job loss.

I know in my area there are some "dealer only" auctions, that would be a perk of being a dealer.

Good luck if you go that route

Me, I am not a good salesman, I don't want to part with anything, and when I do, I usually sell low to get it gone

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

It is a long arduous story but the people who have to longest time in with the company, many paid the most / collecting the most vacation are the ones that are getting let go. I was having a conversation with a new hire the other day and we didn't see eye to eye on a solution when he made the comment that I needed to remember he had "4 years in the industry".....i have 27 HA.

With my work I have literally been in and out of prisons and jails since I was 18 years old (will be 46 in July) and have been on call 24/7 for the last 17 years. It will be nice to have a change of pace....especially if I can make it as a dealer.
