"Luckily" we don't have to deal with dietary restrictions much in my family and circle of friends. But one way we deal with this is to have at least 1 dish to meet their needs and ask those affected to bring a dish they can eat, and enough they can share.

Whenever we have new guests, we actually ask if they have any dietary restrictions ahead of time. The worst situation is not knowing and finding out when we're just sitting down to the meal.

Just my 2 cents... and nice post.

I was a raw vegan for almost 1.5 years. I loved it! However it's not good for you long term, don't get me started. You feel great at first, at some point you have to stop as I did or you will crash in so many ways. By the way, I have no issues eating meat and never have it was a cleanse type deal.

Believe me I can relate. I've had to be on a gluten free diet since 1999. I've got one sister in law that doesn't eat pork and another that eats the paleo diet. My sister is hypo-glycemic. Lots of fun.
