Log hauling photos from Northern Maine

I thought I'd repost these photos from a Northern Maine log hauling site. These were likely from the '50's & '60's. Small engines, extremely heavy loads, bad brakes and very low gears

These drivers were moving some really big loads on narrow, dirt logging roads!!

Got to give those old school truck drivers credit. I worked with some older drivers back in the '70's who hauled beer during the '40's & '50's. From VA, OH, PA & NJ to Boston before the interstate highways. Always overloaded, driving in bad weather, poor heat, no a/c, power steering or any other amenities. We had a couple of the old tractors that were still in use as yard horses. An old IH and a Diamond T and boy were they "basic!" Large push bumpers that were used regularly and sander tanks ahead of the forward rear axle. Chain racks because they just had to get through the weather.

I may have been too quick on my first ID of the trucks with the long log.
The Mack LMSW has a slight curve to the bottom of the windshield. Although those photos don't enlarge any more i'm not really seeing it.
I'm thinking they are Kenworths. And also maybe that that particular pic isn't from Maine but from the west coast?

    More from a truck nerd...

This is my favorite logging truck and photo.
Mack LMSW-L belonging to Fruit Growers Supply in Westwood, Ca. Their fleet of Macks and Peterbilt's replaced the rail operations in the 40's and 50's and hauled trees to their mill that made fruit boxes. It was owned by Sunkist i believe.

That's a tough truck. Triple frame no doubt! Center of gravity is getting up there. Think they can load one more log on though...........
