Could someone explain this to me?

I got some Rustoleum High Heat Paint to use on some rusty drip pans on a cook top.
The front label says it is good up to 1,200 degrees.

On the back label, in small print, it says do not use on surfaces that will be exposed to heat.

The fine print is never read by most but I am at a loss on that one considering it is suppose to stand up to 1200 degrees

Maybe it is a misprint and they really meant flames?

Any mention of... That you can keep your health provider? Actually it's probably in there on the urging of legal council as a product liability out if necessary.

Yup! I have a can here that I bought to paint my BBQ Grill. On the back at the top it says it's good for exposure to heat up to 1200 deg. but down in the fine print it says "Do not use on metal directly exposed to flame or in direct contact with food such as a grill grate."

I used some Rust Oleum High temp paint in an aerosol can to paint the exhaust manifold on a 1939 Farmall I restored, it's held up great , temp from manifold ? , but with out a muffler on the manifold when you idle down from a higher rpm flames shoot out the manifold outlet about a foot high.

Sub-Play got into trouble when they advertised their product as a "Foot long", whereas as it measured out to be just short of that. This should fall into the same area of false advertising?
