How's the weather at your place? - August 2018

Welcome to the August 2018 weather thread!

The full moon in August is on the 26th and called the Full Stergeon Moon. The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.

Ended July with 5.92" of rain, 44.35" year to date.

Way more reasonable than last year at this time, so far:

After a week or two of nice weather it looks like the heat and humidity is going to return. Near 90* for the weekend.

7.8" of rain in the month of July for us and 98% of that was in the last 1-1/2 weeks of the month. August started with a rain shower last night and this morning.

Its 75 now and 100% humidity headed to the high 80's today. Starting to see some green coming up through the brown patches in the lawn.

69* this morning and super humid again - calling for a high of 79* today with severe thunderstorms this afternoon as a warm front comes up from the south.

I have to let my weather station software cook a little to get my July rain totals to post....

76 degrees here this morning with 89% humidity. Rain almost every afternoon/evening. High today will be around 95 as summer time usual in Orlando.

Going to work outside this morning on a project for a/c condensor. Going to put rock down around it and a larger rock boarder. Had to relevel condensor pad due to moles/voles digging tunnels and living under it....

Its going to be a hot and sweety one with lots of water today!

Showers last night giving us 0.5" of rain. The heavy thunderstorms missed us to the north and west where they got over 2" of rain.

Clear and humid this morning, 77 currently going to a high of 88.

About an inch of rain over last two days which will help. That’s more rain then we had in over a month. Little more humid and warmer today. Chance of rain still today and tomorrow.
