I agree safety may not have been on the preflight checklist.

Driving a tractor over the fire??? That sure puts whacking the garage door with your ROPS in perspective!

But what if one does not contain the fire due to thinking "I should not do that"? Might burn down the house and barn, etc. Might not look like the smart thing to do, but if rural enough to have to wait a good while for a fire truck, and someone set your pasture on fire, not sure some of us would not have done the same.

Years ago a friend of mine saw the field behind his house burning. He had a plow on the back of his tractor already. He went out and plowed a fire break across the path of the fire and it burned it self out.

I've had to run a disk or a chisel around farm fields growing up many times. A few times my mom set corn fields on fire burning trash. A few times the neighbor set corn fields on fire burning trash. Sparks from passing trains a couple times.

Yup, agree totally! And besides, that mower deck discharge is way in front of the gas tank by at least 10"! There's the safety factor right there!
