    Livestock Pics

I thought I would start a thread for just livestock and farm animal pics. Cats and dogs are OK as long as they are farmers. Horses, mules, donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, etc.

Here is one I took this morning. He thinks he is a goat. Iíll let him think that right up until he goes to the butcher in about 6 weeks.
I really hate it when they climb in the feeders!

I told you that their cloven hooves scratch up the dash too much

Iím going to particularly enjoy eating that one... he keeps crawling in the feeder. He has done that since he was a calf, but this is the first time I seen him get on top of a whole bale!

I should have been more clear on that, Jake has never actually climbed up on top of a bale, he routinely climbs into the feeder though. His fat a$$ is the one that broke one of the stanchions uprights off so he could get in there.
Although, several years ago my wife planted spaghetti squash on the lower compost pile that is in the pasture and he would climb right up to the top of the pile and eat all the squash that grew that year, and there was a ton of it.

Besides my sisterís quarter horse, two miniature horses, cats, and our two German Shepherds, this is the only livestock Iíve had. I raised him from a few days old as a blind bottle calf to about 600 pounds. It was in January when we took him to the sale barn. He did get most of his sight back, and we were thinking it was because the cows were ran on rye cover crop stalk ground that he was blind, having a vitamin A deficiency possibly. It was great fun having him around! My neighbor who has the cow-calf didnít have time to bottle feed, and didnít even know if this one would make it, so he gave him to me. He might as well have been an overgrown dog! My little brothers could even ride him some. When it was time to go to the sale barn, we put him back with my neighborís calves that were also going, which was the first time heíd been in with other cattle, so he just hid behind us and it took awhile for him to get used to them. Sometime Iím going to get a few more bottle calves, maybe next spring.
