    Sards in Dogs

Sards (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) "Complete and permanent blindness over a rapid course (typically days to weeks)"
    In short...

On 5/23/19 Tucker (11 years old) lost sight in his left eye, by 5/27/19 he lost sight in his right eye, now completely blind.

I just can't like that post Giz. We hate to see our best friends in trouble. Truth is Tucker will soon be able to make it around just fine without his eyes, that sniffer will get the job done. It's just going to take a little time.

I'm sorry to hear about Tucker. It's tough to watch something like that happen. He seems like a resilient, tough little guy, though.

I don't know what to say, Keith. You know that you and I feel the same way about dogs. I just hate it when one gets sick or suffers from a disability. Tucker has as a good a home as a dog could ask for. He appreciates what you and Mel do for him.

"SARDS occurs only in dogs and affects primarily adult, large-breed dogs. Dachshunds and Miniature Schnauzers are small breeds that are predisposed to SARDS but the condition may strike any pure or mixed breed dog. SARDS is reported to occur most commonly in dogs 6 to 14 years of age and it seems female dogs may be predisposed."

Bed rail I made for my daughters bed. I used plastic lattice. I added two pieces of 1" x 2" x ~18" to fit under the mattress, I put the 1x2's on hinges to fold up for storage.
