And I thought we experienced a bad day in south Louisiana. Prayers for those in Nepal.

So very sad, as the entire region was decimated. Death toll may continue to climb, as rubble is moved.

I couldn't make this up if I tried - I just interviewed last week a recent immigrant from Nepal looking for a kitchen job.

He just got here from Nepal only a few weeks ago. I was going to email his sponsors to talk more about job possibilities here for him when I read in the news about the earthquake.

What a terrible thing for the poor guy.

Thoughts and prayers for those poor folks in the affected region. It was devastated by the earthquake and subsequent aftershock. An ancient, overpopulated area that unfortunately took a direct hit from Mother Nature.

Five years ago, my youngest son and I trekked up to Everest base camp....spent a month walking. At first the mountains held our attention:

But they were not the mountains I grew up around. They were not my mountains.
Soon, the people of Nepal captured my attention. I could relate to the fathers teaching their children to work hard...

...and I saw my grandmother in this old Sherpa woman squinting into the sun.

These people will rebuild. They may need a little financial help from the rest of the world, but there are no people on earth who are more hard working. I saw men carrying their body weight in lumber and other goods up trails that gained 1,000 feet in 2 miles. I saw small children in their school uniforms pressed up against stone banks on narrow trails as yak-trains passed them...they were going to get to school on time no matter what.
The scenery of Nepal is breath-taking. The people of Nepal are something to behold.
