    Memorial Day Weekend

Thinking about my Dad and five uncles this morning. They all fought in WWII. They're gone now but each is remembered fondly for their service and sacrifices to this country and their families. Each truly representative of "The Greatest Generation."

Superglidesport, Ya know, you'd think that would sink in with people after a while but it doesn't seem to.
    Thanks for the post.

The photo is my Uncle Robert Charles De Long who was Killed in France not long after D-Day. The flag that is pictured draped his casket in 1944. It was stored in our attic and passed down to my brother. He gave it to a friend of his who took it to Normandy and carried it in his car for the 70th Anniversary of the invasion in Normandy.

    Nice post

Makes me think about what my grandfather went through in WWII. My dad shared some of his letters home to his family. He would never worry them about any of the details of what he was seeing and going through. He kept it simple and sent his love.

Have a safe Holiday weekend everyone.

Thankfully all of my family has returned from war. My Dad was a radio operator/gunner for 26 missions on a B-17 in Europe, his brother on a convoy escort
ship in the Atlantic and my Great Uncle went in on Omaha Beach, mid afternoon on 06 June 1944 as a 38 year old private. I am proud of all of them, and miss them all very much. I know Memorial Day is for those who gave their lives in combat, but who will replace the WWII generation? That kind of person doesn't seem to exist any longer.

God bless all who gave their lives for our freedom and those who will never be the same person again.

All hope is not lost on generation Y. This young man has more courage then most of the people twice his age.
