    Retirees only

How long have you been retired? It was 4 years for me March of this year. Over 37 years of service. Plant closing forced retirement. (unwilling to move, or go to lower paying classification) or I could have kept working.

I cut my audit work back significantly last year and finished about mid-December. I was on the road, a 'road warrior', since March-2001 covering 6-8 Western states. (I lost a year and a half starting in August-2007, didn't know if I'd ever work again.) Air planes, rental cars, and motels, I had my fill and health was the driving force. Loved the work, loved the road, but I knew it was time and did a slow exit.

I retired February 8, 2012. 34+ years as a professional firefighter. Would have liked to continue but RA and AS got to severe. Very frustrating wanting to do things but can't.

I hear you - RA for 4 years now - had to leave work after 37 years.

I don't know if I can consider myself "retired" as it was kind of a forced early retirement September 2012. I have the time of a regular retiree but not the ability to really enjoy it.

1 year as of this July. 48 years total. But am only retired from the job. There's still a lot of work to do.

Retired 5 years ago after 35½ years of service with an Shell. A great company with great benefits, but I don't miss it, just the friends I made in those years.
