    To start the morning off...

I was able to get the car out of the driveway this morning despite the snow drifts. Traffic was moving normally and nobody was switching between all lanes at 90. So far, so good.

Came into work all revved up and ready to go to find one of computer systems going slow as molasses. When I say slow, I mean hitting Enter on a menu item takes about 30 minutes to respond. At this rate, I'll fix this problem by the end of the day.

    So much for productivity!

Aww, man that stinks. I've been in this same situation (mechanical engineering). Luckily I've always been able to just go out in the shop and just start wrenching on something rather than sitting and waiting on the computer.

I was in the same shoes, usually the 2nd person in our storeroom. The mechanic would usually give me the bad info , things aren't working. Yep I could call our tech support group ,have them test what ever and see where trouble may or may not be .
But for fixing or changing out eqpt from inside the the building was mine to fix.

    Good luck
