    Wi-Fi router recomendations please

My router is dying, I have to reset/unplug it several times a day anymore so I want/need a new one.

I have a linksys now, and looking for something better.

Here is the one I have been leaning towards: http://www.amazon.com/RT-N66U-Dual-B...d=25SQ03LAZ8XQ

Linksys = Cisco! Just sayin! I would say stay with linksys unless you need a managed router/switch ($$$).

I have a Cisco myself, one of their lower priced units - E1000. I had it for about a year now with zero problems. Works good.

I am not so sure that is a ASSet.

The top Linksys/Sysco box seems to be the EA4500, here is some quotes from two different reviews:

The bad: The Linksys EA4500's 2.4Ghz band performance could use some improvement, and the router requires a live connection with Cisco for users to access and manage its features/settings.
The release of Cisco Connect Cloud carries some controversies, however, since the new firmware was pushed out to the EA router automatically and then required existing users to register an account with Cisco to continue to manage the routers. Cisco Connect Cloud's initial Terms of Service also implies potential privacy risks. Cisco has since changed its ToS and promised to make Cisco Connect Cloud a more clear opt-in feature. I find Cisco Connect Cloud a welcome approach since it offers users a way to be in better control of their home network (and also future home appliances) no matter where they are. For more information on Cisco Connect Cloud,
Seems you must register it with the Cisco Connect Cloud to do anything with it. I dont need or want that.

I'm using a Netgear WNR1000V2 to drive 2 computers and a printer. It's about 2 years old never had a problem.
I use 802.11N and my download speeds are in the range of 22 to 25Mbps.

I run speed checks from this website Speakeasy Speed Test

You do have to go to Netgear's website to manage settings but that's a one time thing.

Kenny, running two 4500s in my house. Work great. You dont have to register it to do "anything" with it. Just to use the Cloud connect part since they use dynamic DNS to get you back to your router. I can login from a PC away from home or use the android app. As it worked out its a function I never use. Not yet anyway. So you have normal router software unless you upgrade it to the connect stuff. I would be happy to send you my login info and PW if you want to check it out remotely. Rich

Not to start a PC/Apple war, but I run Airport extremes, and have for about 5 years now, with almost no issues.

They're very intuitive for network printing, music, and movies. They have a good range too, and can be used with airport express' to extend your range.

If anyone wants to argue PC vs Apple, please direct response to reJ-

Another option is the Apple Time Capsule. It has the same features as the Airport Extreme plus a server grade hard drive for backups. Mine has been running for 6 years with not one issue.
