How much tension is on the safety tab? The spring looks like it might not be all that strong.

I can think of an application where I could use a set of those. Thanks!

I plan on using these when I have to hook a chain to another chain. I wouldn't weld these to a bucket, but I would use them where the chain is put into the existing grab hooks that are already welded on the bucket. What I'm trying to describe is to take the chain, place whatever link you need in the bucket hook and then use this new hook to attach to the chain to keep the chain loop from falling out of the bucket grab hook.

I know what you mean about the spring. It looks light duty but it does take some effort to push it in and turn the bracket. For example my wife can't push the the pin in all the way to rotate the bracket.

I failed to mention in the first post that they use 17 mm nyloc nuts to retain the spring and the pin that would go thru the chain link.

I didn't realize the pin had to be pushed in to allow it to rotate. I thought the tab was held in place simply by the spring tension. That makes much more sense now.

I snagged a picture off the parts sheet for the safety chain for a pull type mx8 and mx10 rotary cutter. The deere part is superior in my estimation and seems to have a part number. I didn't log on and get a price but you could.

The chain pictured in this post is 5/16 and the whole assembly is (My two are) tagged though the tag isn't pictured at 10,000 pounds agricultural tow or something of that nature.
