If any of you have the opportunity to participate in, or attend a memorial service today, please do. A lot of small towns have services which are just as meaningful as the services at Ground Zero in New York, the service at The Pentagon or at the Flight 93 Memorial. There is a service near the small town (app 2000 population) where I live. A local young man of 25, making his life in New York, working in IT for an investment firm, died in the World Trade Center, on his second day of work in his dream job. His mother built a beautiful memorial to all victims on ten acres of the family farm. I missed the first one due to a deployment to Kosovo, but have been the MC for all others. I have watched the crowd in attendance seem to dwindle slightly over the years.
Like all memorial services, the September 11th memorial is a sad occasion. Please do not forget what happened 11 years ago today.
Also, the American Flag flys at half staff for Patriot Day.
