If any of you have the opportunity to participate in, or attend a memorial service today, please do. A lot of small towns have services which are just as meaningful as the services at Ground Zero in New York, the service at The Pentagon or at the Flight 93 Memorial. There is a service near the small town (app 2000 population) where I live. A local young man of 25, making his life in New York, working in IT for an investment firm, died in the World Trade Center, on his second day of work in his dream job. His mother built a beautiful memorial to all victims on ten acres of the family farm. I missed the first one due to a deployment to Kosovo, but have been the MC for all others. I have watched the crowd in attendance seem to dwindle slightly over the years.

Like all memorial services, the September 11th memorial is a sad occasion. Please do not forget what happened 11 years ago today.

Also, the American Flag flys at half staff for Patriot Day.

    Thanks,
    Don

Last year this very week we were in the area of the Flight 93 Memorial and visited the site. Still under construction when we were there but it's a very beautiful area of the country and will be a very nice memorial when finished. President Obama was scheduled to visit the afternoon we were there and security was very tight. We left before he arrived because they were going to shut down the access road for 2 hours prior to his arrival and 2 hours after his departure just for security reasons.

If you're ever in the area it's definitely worth a visit. Don, I agree with you on the emotional side, reading the names and looking at the photos of the people on Flight 93 was a sad occasion for us.

The Flight 93 Memorial is diagonally opposite from me in PA. We really need to get there to see it. This is a picture of the main memorial plaza in South Montrose, PA. The names of the victims from New York, The Pentagon and Flight 93 are all listed alphabetically by first name.

Shanksville site for Flight 93 is very emotional and sad ,been there 2 times , need to go since they are close to final stages.
Every time we have been there the people there was very respectful , same as being in a funeral home. Shanksville and Qucreek (9 miners saved) are about 20-30 min apart. and 10- 30 mins away from Somerset,Pa. A most to visit if in the area same as NY or DC sites.
