have you met anyone on GTT

The question is has anyone met anyone else that posts on GTT? I can say I did coincidentally yesterday. There are a few of us on this forum that are building officials spread out across the united states. I have known Manomet is a certified building official in Central Massachusetts however have never met him. Yesterday and today The South Eastern Massachusetts Building Officials Association have had classes and he had asked me if I was attending, I said yes.. Now I have no idea what Manomet looks like outside of a description he has stated in the past about being 6'4" tall. There are a lot of officials that are that height, and I didn't even really know his name outside of his handle here, Plus there were around 250+ officials at the conference.
I arrived pretty early (Taunton is quite a haul for me being from Brookfield) and was siting at a table having my english muffin and coffee with a couple inspectors I do know and this big guy sits at our table, We didn't introduce ourselves and he left pretty quickly to get to a class. Well at lunch the tables were pretty much full because the class I just attended ran over on time so I looked around and saw a local guy I know and went over to that table, there was the same big guy again, and I asked him if the empty seat was taken, he says no so I sit down.. We are all eating and not talking at all and the big guy says not much conversation from this group and got up and left.
I get home and there are a couple PM's for me to read and I see Manomet had asked some people if they knew me and they said no so I sent him back a PM and said to meet me at the coffee tables at 8am tomorrow.. I asked him what he looked like and he described himself; 6'4", big guy with a white beard like Santa Claus.. My wheels are now spinning so I wrote him back and said Oh My, and told him what I just stated here about the tables and in the meantime he was writing me back saying what he drives and his name was on the side of the truck, he is also a builder. I mailed him back and said; not only do I think we sat together but I was parked two vehicles from your truck.. He wrote me back saying that was me!
How coincidental is that? I saw him come in this morning and walked up to the man and said "manomet" he said Mr. Taylor! What are the odds of meeting someone you do not know out of all those people and they turn out to be the person you were looking for in the first place!!! The entire thing was to me astonishing.. Manomet is a nice guy and I hope to share thoughts with him again.. He said he would like to meet Frank (superglidesport) because he also a Harley guy! I told him where Frank lives so be looking for a big guy someday Frank. Manomet is a super guy to talk to...
Glad to have met you "manomet". I will keep your name to myself.
I will say this; one of my local guys said to me, I wouldn't fool around with that Guy!!!!! Funny I didn't think that at all?? He must operate a Vespa motor Scooter! You'll know who I am talking about Manomet...

I've been fortunate to have met a few GTT members, and those meetings have developed into real friendships off the site.

Jason/ DieselShadow is a dear friend, when I lived in TN we did a ton of stuff together including picking up a tractor for KennyD. Things eventually came together for Jason and I, KennyD and Farmgirl to all get together one night and have a few drinks.

I'm trying to think if I've met anyone else. Spoke with several members on the phone, and am riding in a horse clinic with Rope_Chucker next week.

I have been fortunate enough to meet and know a few members in person myself. As Blake mentioned, I've met him, Kennyd, and Farmgirl19 all in one weekend, although I had met and known 56FordGuy (Blake) for some time by then. I consider them all the greatest people and friends. I've also met rtgt in person. He's another great guy. I have a "list" if you will, of others I'd love to meet here. They know who they are and even though I haven't met them, I also consider them "top tier" people in this world. This forum is full of great guys and gals. My list is pretty long.

    I've only met 2.

Chris from Artillian when I went down and picked up my forks.

And tomd999. Tom had ordered something and couldn't get to the shipping pickup warehouse before they closed for the day so I picked it up for him and then he swung by my place (with his daughter) to pick it up later in the evening.

There are quite a few of us on here from New England. We should have a gathering some day.

Didn't Mutton's have a get together of sorts a few years ago? I thought some of you folks met there. And I know someone tried to form a "get together" but it never panned out.

As anti-social and reclusive as I am, I did have a thought a while back of "Coaltrain's GTT Breakfast Tour" where I would bounce around the country with my only real intention of stopping by and having breakfast with a few members. Unfortunately that likely won't be happening as I can only drive at the most 200 miles at a time and have to take a break for a day or two. It would take me years to complete what I wanted.

As Gizmo says above - I consider you all my friends here even though it is through our forum. I have been corrected a few times when I say I have no friends - but that I do here. That's plenty good enough for me right now!

Well, if we're going to meet I certainly hope it's BEFORE you are dead. Considering all the zombie shows, I'd hate the think we'd have walking GTTer's!

Joking aside, I suspect most of the folks are here are just as good in person.
