The day the "sleeping dragon was awaken". Such an INCREDIBLE place! Anyone else been?
I've never been there.
I thought it was just a little bit disappointing that there was no mention on the radio today (music stations) of the day. All I was hearing about was the NHL problems and the NE Patriots QB's new baby and what his model wife is going to look like afterwards. I checked the NY Times out of curiosity. Nothing (see attached). The headline story is gay marriage in the Supreme Court and not a single mention of this "date which will live in infamy". Wow. Scary.
Getting to meet any WW2 vet is getting very rare these days. I'm very honored to get the opportunity to shake their hand and tell them thank you.
I won't forget...

I wonder how long it will be before there is no mention on the anniversary of September 11? I might be an old fart, but damn it these dates are important to the country. When the dates are forgotten, so is the meaning of the sacrifice of all those who have given their lives.

I been to Pearl Harbor back in 1988 on a trip for the company. I visited the Arizona Memorial - definitely an eye opener. I just watched a program on the History Channel about December 7, 1941, but most of it centered around FDR's reaction to it - with some mention and scenes of the aftermath of the attack of Pearl Harbor.
Also, if anyone hasn't seen the video I posted of V-J day celebration in Hawaii, it's here: dia-library/6095-media-library-vj-day-august-14-1945-honolulu-hawaii.html I guess I should have waited to posted the video today.

Great post, good time to stop and thank ALL of our vets.
I was amazed that the local TV stations had stories on Pearl Harbor today. The History Channel had a 2-hour show on tonight called WW2 from space. It was an interesting show covering both theaters of the war with big-picture aspects of the strategies used by the Allies and the Axis powers.
