The ready to run electric cars have come along way. These short cell phone videos fail to show how fast this thing is. But, as you can see, my son was harassing the dog more than running the truck.

Here are a few still pics of the same truck-

My kids each have a Stampede, and I have a Slash. Those babies kick butt! My son is the master of disaster with his. He has made me upgrade a few items to help prevent down-time.

Stick a 3-cell LiPo battery in the Slash, and you can hit a real 40 MPH no problem. I generally don't let my kids run LiPos because they crash enough as it is. My kids just turned 9 and 11.

My mother bought my son his Stampede when they first came out with the 4X4 version. Out of the box with the NiMH battery they claim it will do around 50. I did pick up a 5000 mAh LiPo and it is insane. I think that they claim it will do 60+ MPH with that LiPo battery. All I know is that about every other time the LiPo is run, something gets broken. But it is a blast when it is running.

I race a Slash 4x4 once a week or so out at Hobbytown Hobbyplex. I've added a Shining Star Chassis LCG and was pretty happy. Last Tuesday my Velineon system started acting up. Now I have a Tekin RX8 speed control and a Tekin Pro4 4600kv motor. It flies around the track now!

    Lee,

I hear you. My nephew is always breaking something on his Slash when he runs LiPos. I keep telling him he needs to learn the meaning of "throttle control". I have mine geared down a hair (I think I'm running a 10 tooth pinion at present). The tracks by me don't have any straights long enough to get anywhere near even 40 MPH. I'm more of a backlot basher anyway. Getting some big air and landing on all 4 is fun for me.

    636,

Very clean layout on that chassis. The only thing I don't like about the stadium trucks with the full body is how it pretty much just funnels all the mud right onto the chassis. Oh well, clean-up is part of any hobby.
