I couldn't tell if it's AC or DC, but if it works, it's a great price.

International Harvester branded welders are out there as well. I remember those from the 70's and 80's. Not sure who made the IH or JD welders.

Could be a Century, Schumacher or a Marquette.....?

When I first saw it my first thought was Century. Also read this: Who's manufacturer of John Deere 295 Stick welder? - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

We had one at the dealership. I can't remember if it was ac/dc, but I'm thinking it was ac only, as we had purchased a gasoline Lincoln 250 for the mobile welder.

For those of you with arc welders, would this be a decent beginners/home shop welder?

If it really only has been used a handful of times, it sounds like a very good deal.

If it’s a DC machine, I’d jump on it. AC, eh, not so much. Still a good price in my opinion either way.

I'm not a great "stick" weldor, but I would suggest one that has DC (direct current) functionality.
