    John Deere hitch cat. 1

Will a finishing mower with cat 0 be used with the cat 1 on the 650? I'll be using a rear finishing mower with cat 0.

Unless it's an oddball mower, it will not work, Cat 0 implements run at 2000rpms, Cat 1 PTO is 540rpms. Even if you got it hooked up somehow it would turn way too slow.

You might be able to physically hook it up but you will probably need to change the pins. A CAT 0 has 5/8th pins I believe and the CAT 1 is 3/4. Also the CAT 0 is 20 inches wide and the CAT 1 is 26. You can move the control arms in but am not sure how much. Pretty sure you can't use a quick hitch with it. I know I could not use my CAT 1 quick hitch on my CAT 0 box blade. You really need to do some measurements if this is something you are thinking about buying.

AJGRN is right a lot of CAT 0 mowers are at 2000 rpm, if they are old JD's from old 400 series, unless it's the JD 400 and that one is 840 RPM. I believe the 4x4 series is 2000 rpm as well but can't remember. Northern sells a CAT 0 finish mower that is 540 rpm's but if the 650 is a CAT 1, I would just get a CAT1 mower.

    Rear finishing mower

I am looking at a rear finishing mower it is a caroni TC480NSRD - 48" Caroni Estate Rear Discharge Mower. I am in Tennessee and I'm can only go by sales person information. Does any one ever seen or used one of these. I,m looking on agmate web site and they are sold by asc stores or in my case it is coming from a warehouse. I looked on the caroni web site which is in Italy and it states that it is cat 0 which won't work. But the sales person assures me that it is cat 1. They changed web site info to state cat1 instead of cat 0 after I brought this to their attention. So I,m am really confused about which it is. Any of u guys live near a asc and could but eyes on it. My jd 650 has pto of 14.5 just out of the range of a 60 inch mower as most state at least 15 hp and some models are more. Any help appreciated!

From what I found, that mower is a Cat 1 540 rpm mower, there was a guy running one with a 12hp diesel Kubota, it should work just fine on your 650.

    Cat 1 verses cat 0

Well right or wrong the caroni hitch pins are 20 inches apart but have correct size pins ,.and It did not come with pto shaft, who knows what length it needs to be i.m sure asc doesn't. So they offered up the 59 inch Caroni for same price and knocked off 75 dollars shipping.i gues i'll find out if the jd 650 will pull it.

the 650 has plenty of forward gears, just go in a slower gear if you need to, it will do the job.
