    2305 JD Tractor won't run

I have a 2305 John Deere tractor. It starts and runs great, but when I put it into gear, the engine dies. I have already put a jumper wire across the seat safety switch, no changes. Can anyone help.

I suppose I would start by looking it over for any plug or wire that came loose? There must be a switch in the transmission

Based on the symptoms, it sounds like the seat switch.

Just because the seat switch is good doesn't mean the wiring harness connecting it is. Trace those wires to their source and check continuity.

Check your diodes also. I replaced them on my 2305, because the battery would not charge.
