    2018 1023E seat adjustment...

Was looking at my new tractor because all I can do is look at it at this point here in Central New York. Not even enough snow to snow-blow!!! Anyways I lifted my seat and noticed two rubber seat springs as they call them which don't look like springs at all! They just look like rubber bump stops. It looks like you can slide them in a track forward and backward. Is this an adjustment to change the stiffness of the seat. My manual has no mention of it. Do they make a coil spring you could replace the rubber one with?
Previous mower 1987 216 that I bought new. Had for 30 yrs +, It was part of the Family!!

I'm assuming you have two rubber gizmos like shown below? Yes, you slide them forward backward depending on if you want a stiff ride or a really stiff ride. They have been using these on 2-series for years. They say they are rubber but they feel more like a hockey puck.

There are spring replacements available. KBOGH has some.

Go here: about half way down the page. http://www.boltonhooks.com/jd1series.html

JG, our springs will not work on the 1023e (or any other machine that has them-and there are many) to replace the rubber bumpers. We searched and prototyped tirelessly to find a good solution but nothing ever worked out.

In theory, yes but you won't really feel a difference. See my reply to JG for your other question.

Does anyone know if Kenny's springs will fit a 3032E? It uses the same rubber pucks. I can't tell a difference no matter what position they're in.

The only thing i noticed they do is give you more or less "lean" in the seat, all the way forward and you can really pimp around the yard.

Thanks Kennyd, Maybe I will see if I can come up with something for 1023e. I worked in a fabricating, machine shop for 43yrs...., I'll have to think about it for awhile.

Ugh! Sorry Kenny... my bad. I should have read more carefully. The hard rubber bumpers on my 2720 seat must have caused some brain damage. :-)
