    1025r Seat Weld

Has anyone had the weld that holds the seat to the frame break? Photos are from my 2016 1025r (125 hrs). It appears the weld corroded and broke. I noticed it while working on a slight incline when it seemed the tractor was tilting to one side. Once I discovered the problem I had to stop working out of concern for stressing the remaining weld. If that one breaks, the seat separates from the tractor completely. This is the second weld that has broken on this tractor!

Any contributing factors? Stored outside, heavy operator, rough ground, wife mows with it? My wife volunteers to mow the grass. I always tell my wife, I'd rather mow myself, than fix the machine after she mows.

The tractor is always stored in the garage. The terrain I work on is hilly, but I don't do anything crazy with it. My wife definitely does not mow!

Beautiful beaches, moderated summer heat and lake effect snows. Right where I want to be.

The good news is that it is an easy fix.........Is your tractor still under warranty? (As a 2016, I guess your purchase date might be the issue)

If it's under warranty, the seat should be repaired or replaced.

The seat is super easy to remove, pull the pin and go.

Is there is still warranty, I would take the seat to the dealer and see what they do. They will either replace it or have someone hit it with the grinder and then weld it correctly. If your dealer isn't handy, any small engine repair shop for lawnmowers, etc likely can weld it for you as well, that is assuming you don't a welder yourself. The cost would be minimal if you have to have it done where you have to pay.

Personally, I would rather have that seat welded correctly if it were mine and from your pictures, it looks like there is a minimal amount of weld on that seat.....if the tractor is under warranty and they replace the seat, if you can keep the old seat after they do their processing, I would have the seat welded correctly and I would put it in a box and on the shelf as it's handy to have a spare seat as you get years and hours on your tractor.

You mentioned that this was the second weld to break, What was the other weld that broke and how was it fixed?

It’s happened a few times before and reported here in the forums, usually it happens early while under warranty though.

Welding will require the cover and foam to come off the seat pan. You'll have to re-paint both sides to prevent it from rusting out. You may want to check if seat-warehouse.com offers a replacement.
