    Yeah... It looks to me like the housings are starting to separate? Maybe from loose bolts? That could have caused the break.

    I hate to say this... but I'd almost guarantee the original owner had something happen to it, had it repaired, or otherwise had a good reason to unload the tractor... and now you know why. But I could be wrong.

    A crack in any housing is bad. Either it was misused or abused or a flaw in the engineering or casting caused this issue. I’m leaning towards a failure of some kind or a flaw. With the amount of 1 series out there working extremely well, I seriously doubt this is an engineering fault. It’s fixable. No question. Wether or not the OP wants to or not is the debate.

    Im curious to know how this was resolved...

    I think I would have tried some JB Weld first. Have nothing to loose...
