    2305 starter removal

Trying to replace starter on my 2305. Some rocket scientist in John Deere engineering put a motor mount right in front of the starter. Not enough space to allow starter removal. Tractor has a 200CX loader. The loader cross brace is right under the motor mount bolts. Removing the cross brace would require removing the 8 bolts that hold the loader mount bracket on. The tractor manual instructions say to remove the starter cap screw, except my tractor doesn't have a cap screw but a stud.

Has anyone run into this problem?

As I speak fluent sarcasm I understand your response perfectly.

Let me ask for the OP, how does one get past the problem and actually go about removing and replacing the starter? Thanks in advance!

On all my VW TDIs, the service manual goes like this -

Find the section for what you need to replace. First off is a list of at least 6 items - sometimes as many as 10 - to remove before you start on the actual part.

    It is what it is.....

You will have to remove the exhaust pipe and the motor mount that is in the way. Remove hardware from starter mount and wiggle and cuss.

I'd want to be positive the starter is bad before proceeding with the R&R.
