    2305 won't start

my 2305 with 430 hrs just quit running, for no reason, while driving it. It turns over nicely and wants to start. If I give it a little time and almost full throttle it will start for about 30 seconds. I checked the fuel filter-no water. The fuel is not that old-month..Will replace fuel filter tomorrow but can't believe that's the issue. The tractor was left out during a big downpour the day prior! Any thoughts? Recharging the Battery now!

Air, fuel, spark. You are missing one or more of those.

It could be the fuel shutoff solenoid and /or it’s control circuit.
There are several diodes in the harness that are notorious for failing.
There have been a few threads over the years that have the electrical schematic posted.
Here is one that I remember being involved in.

We should be able to safely eliminate one of those

new air filter 30 hrs ago, plenty of Battery power,..Just got it started, very hard to get it going, had to use the starter for 20 seconds! This was after i normally would have stopped cranking. The glow plugs seem to be cycling ok. But it started with almost full throttle i pulled back on the rpms and it ran for maybe a minute at 2000 rpm then stopped. I checked the fuel filter then and it was empty and filling back up!! Not sure why it is starting so hard and fuel is partially blocked to fuel filter. Is there an electric fuel Pump? ok I saw info on diode and fuel shutoff solenoid will check that out -Thanks!

Take a look at the thread I linked above. There is an electrical schematic.
I don’t think that there is an electric fuel pump in the 2305, but can’t swear to it.

You shouldn’t have this problem at 430 hours. I used to hose my car engine when I competed in car shows and if too much moisture entered (especially around the distributor), it would take about 48 [edit: hours] to dry out before I could get it to stay running again. I’m not sure if that would have the same problem with your tractor, but it wouldn’t hurt to find out.

It's a diesel so we can eliminate the spark of the equation.

Weird but batteries have been known to just keel over on you while operating the tractor. How old is the battery?

In addition to the good advice Arlen provided let me just add that a number of 2305's have experienced fuel starvation due to a blockage in the fuel outlet or line. I had a similar problem with my 2305.

The fuel bowl was only partially full and I experienced stalling and low power on a couple of occasions. Removed the fuel hose from the tank to the filter and there was only a trickle of fuel. Removed the fuel fill cap and blew some low pressure air into the hose and tank and dislodged whatever junk was clogging things up. I then siphoned and strained the fuel and there was some telltale debris in the strainer. Refilled the tank and was good to go.

This was my issue! My bowl would slowly empty. I pumped the tank as dry as i could then removed hose to the filter housing. Put the cap on fuel tank and blew air thru the hose. That built up a little pressure and blew the rest of the fuel along with a 1 in long bug! Made a fuel mess but got the job done. Thanks for all the help
